Warinda Alpacas
History & Breeding
Alpaca and baby

In 1993 we purchased five pregnant white females directly from Peru. After waiting a year for them to make it out of quarantine, we were delighted to move the girls and their cria to our sunny pastures at One Tree Hill. Shortly after that we purchased “Artic Prince”, a stud male from Ascot Farm Alpacas

Our breeding philosophy is to establish a farm of fine micron fleece animals, with a focus on breeding the more versatile white animals. We also enjoy providing affordable animals for pets, and in our inner-rural area where dog attacks on sheep are common, we provide “flock protection alpacas” for sheep farmers.

In 2003 Ascot Farm Earl, a medium grey male, became our prime sire and gave us eight females and four males from our females. In 2004 we outsourced matings to Willari Park Corelli and his offspring are unpacking now.

The purchase of Farmbridge Sanchez is a major step as we add weight to the fine fleeces we are producing. We expect his offspring to cut three to four kilograms of fleece.

In the future we hold high hopes for Stansbury's Fernando whose outstanding crimp and lustre will further enhance the quality fleece from Sanchez.
